BuzzFeed seeks an experienced, dynamic leader with a strong strategic vision, an ability to swiftly execute a plan and someone who can switch between cadences fluidly. The person should be able to think big and have a deep understanding of the industry and a true grasp of the news business.
The candidate should have deep relationships with the media and be able to work across the organization to plan and create strategy. This person should be cool headed in crisis but proactive and scrappy with new initiatives and rollouts. The candidate should be able to advise and execute across editorial, business, tech, video and company-wide initiatives while speaking the language of all. The VP of Communications will report to the Chief of Staff, run BuzzFeed’s exemplary communications team and provide guidance and mentorship across the team.
The ideal candidate should have a heavy interest and obsession with media, but a genuine understanding of how technology is changing the landscape. Likewise, the candidate should live and breathe social but should have a deep understanding of how traditional media operates. Experience in media and technology is crucial, experience in politics communications an added benefit.
