Rhodes College is seeking an Assistant Director of Residential Life in Memphis, TN.
The Assistant Director of Residence Life is responsible for supporting the retention goals of the College by assisting the Director of Residence Life in all aspects of campus living including staff supervision, hall programming, student support and conduct, and room assignments. With a primary focus on the development of a residence education program, the Assistant Director resides on campus, and share 24-hour “on-call” status with two Residence Life Coordinators (20 hour/week graduate assistants) and Associate Director. Coordinate overall department programming efforts including learning communities and sophomore year specific programming that values, promotes and reinforces student learning. Assist, supervise, and evaluate resident assistants on program development and execution. Serve as staff programming outreach contact. Assist in the selection and training of resident assistants, directly supervise and evaluate 7-12 resident assistants. Assist with housing selection and communicate operational functions, such as residence hall keys and maintenance needs, office coverage, hall schedules, and deadlines. Provide support for residents in conflict or crisis through mediation, administrative intervention or referral. This position requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
