The Strategic Program Director (SPD) will work with business executives and divisional and regional IT Account Directors to translate business unit strategies and operating imperatives into a global strategy and multi-year roadmap. The SPD will lead and manage this portfolio of business improvement initiatives for Smith & Nephew. The over-arching goal of these initiatives is to deliver on the organization’s strategic objectives. These projects will have significant cross-division and global impacts and, hence, are considered strategic in nature. These programs will be executed in alignment with the Group, IT and divisional strategies. The Strategic Program Director will provide management direction and leadership regarding scope, value, approach, resourcing, organizational change, methodology, and architecture. The SPD will lead the organization through transformation, introduction of new capabilities and rollout to new geographies requiring thought leadership on business process as well as technology. Ultimately, the Strategic Program Director will be accountable for the on-time, on-budget and on-target (scope, value, quality) delivery of their portfolio of initiatives. The SPD will also have overall accountability for the on-going performance and value-realization of these capabilities once they are placed into production as services. This includes providing effective vendor relationship management, commercial governance including contract management, pricing, cost-to-serve and service level adherence and enhancement pipeline management. Lastly, this position is responsible for contributing to the establishment of effective and efficient strategic planning, portfolio management, program and project management processes and techniques following best demonstrated practices.
