The Smithsonian Institution is looking for an Assistant Director for Collections Care in Washington, DC.

This person develops short and long-range plans for the collections care and preservation management programs at SIA, serving as the principal advisor to the Director on creation, maintenance, and sustainability of a range of services for the conservation/preservation community. They also form and chair committees and special focus groups to address pan-Institutional issues relating to the Smithsonian’s collections preservation, access, and management programs, providing expertise to assist in the development of SI policies and procedures relating to those functions. They assume a leadership role in coordinating facilities management, public services, administrative staff and archival staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of processes, procedures and systems for environmental control.
